Published: Feb 23, 2025 by Krissy Ohnstad

GEAPS is proud to announce Mark Avery as the recipient of this year’s Industry Leader Award, in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the grain industry. Mark’s dedication to ensuring the industry remains informed, safe and efficient has earned him widespread recognition, with GEAPS leaders often saying, “When faced with challenges, who are we going to call?”—and the answer is always the same: Mark Avery.

As the driving force behind one of the industry’s most respected publications, Grain Journal, Mark has played a pivotal role in setting the gold standard for reporting. His editorial leadership has not only kept the industry informed on critical news, safety regulations and operational advancements but has also helped shape the future of the industry.

In addition to his work with Grain Journal, Mark has made significant contributions to GEAPS, where he has served as the Associates Board President, a chapter officer and a member of numerous committees. His intellect, resources and unwavering commitment to GEAPS’ mission have made him an indispensable asset to both the organization and the grain industry as a whole.

“Mark Avery’s dedication and leadership have had an immeasurable impact on the grain industry,” said John Caupert, Executive Director at GEAPS. “Everybody knows Mark. I worked with him before I even started with GEAPS! His tireless work ethic, both within GEAPS and through his local community, has made him a trusted voice and a guiding force. We are thrilled to honor him with the Industry Leader Award for his exceptional service and leadership.”

The Industry Leader Award was presented to Mark at GEAPS Exchange on February 23 where his remarkable career and contributions were formally recognized.
